About

My name is Dominique, and my photography story starts with a BIG life changing decision.

I took a sabbatical from my Structural Engineering job in London to fulfil my childhood dream of living and travelling in a converted van.

Lesky (my white VW crafter) took me through Europe in the summer and through to the winter of 2022. But before leaving my native UK, I was offered a camera second hand, at mates rates. I had an appreciation of photography but never took it beyond phone images previously. I thought, why not! What a great way to document my travels, and to learn something new while I have the time. And so, along for the ride in my van came a Fujifilm X-T20, and a new hobby.

Through my travels, I learnt a lot about how to use a camera, and started getting invested. Purchasing a tripod (after many awkward placements of the camera on precariously mounted rock piles), a telephoto lens, and putting more time in testing the many setting possibilities. My photography was mainly landscapes in this period (with some selfies!)

After an incredible sabbatical, I went back to work in London for a year before getting itchy feet again. Now, I find myself on the other side of the world in Australia! Here, I joined a local photographer group and found myself starting to take portrait shots, using the amazing sunrises to capture the golden hours, with the jawdropping backdrops that Australias landscapes provide.
